Why some mattresses sleep hot
Dense foam with closed cells holds the heat your body gives off and sends it back. A thick quilted top that you sink deep into wraps you in more material. A solid foam core has no airflow at all. None of these makes a bad mattress; they make a warm one, and in a Brownsville bedroom that is the difference between sleeping through and waking at two.
What helps
Copper- or gel-infused foams, which conduct heat away from the body instead of holding it.
Open-cell foams and a pocketed-coil core, which let air move through the mattress.
Hybrids: coil support with a thinner comfort layer on top, so you lie on the bed rather than in it.
Breathable covers and a breathable, cooling mattress protector rather than a plastic-backed one.
Lighter, breathable sheets; the store carries premium sheets chosen for softness and breathability.
The cooling options on our floor
Copper Collection by Spring Air
Copper-infused foams that draw heat away from the body, with enhanced ventilation that reduces heat build-up and copper's natural antimicrobial properties. It is the mattress we point to first for hot sleepers in Brownsville, and it is on the floor in the store.
Tempur-Pedic
TEMPUR material with all-night cooling technology in its cooling models: the contouring and motion isolation of memory foam, built to run cooler.
Helix and Puffy
Helix models engineered for cooling comfort alongside pressure relief and alignment; Puffy with cooling technology and balanced support. Both are on our sales page.
Snooze-O-Pedic and the hybrids
Our own Snooze-O-Pedic puts its foam layers over eight inches of pocketed coils, so air moves under the comfort layer. Sealy, Beautyrest, Stearns & Foster and King Koil hybrids do the same with their own constructions.
Cooling and the fitting
A cool mattress that does not fit your body is still the wrong mattress. The Dream Mapping scan comes first: it shows the support and pressure relief you need, and the Sleep Coach then picks the cooler construction within that set. Hot sleepers also do well with an adjustable base, which lifts the body off a flat surface and lets air reach more of it.
Protectors, sheets and the rest of the bed
The protector matters more than most people expect: a waterproof, breathable protector keeps spills and allergens out without turning the surface into a heat trap, and the store stocks cooling options made for Brownsville living. Premium sheets that breathe finish the job. Ask a Sleep Coach to put the whole set-up together on the bed you are testing.

Cooling mattress questions
For hot sleepers we point first to the Copper Collection by Spring Air, with copper-infused foams and enhanced ventilation; Tempur-Pedic cooling models, Helix, Puffy and the hybrids are the other options.
Plain memory foam can. Copper- or gel-infused foams and a coil core underneath, as in the Snooze-O-Pedic, let air move; Tempur-Pedic offers all-night cooling models.
They reduce how much heat the bed stores against you; they do not replace air conditioning. Breathable construction, a breathable protector and lighter sheets together make the difference.
A plastic-backed one can. A breathable, waterproof, cooling protector, which the store carries, protects without trapping heat.
Yes. After a free five-minute Dream Mapping scan, a Sleep Coach shows you the cooler constructions among the mattresses that fit your body.
