Queen dimensions and who it suits
A standard queen measures 60 by 80 inches (about 152 by 203 cm). Two adults get 30 inches of width each, which is comfortable for most couples and roomy for one person. It fits a bedroom of roughly 10 by 10 feet with room to move, it goes up most stairwells in one piece, and queen sheets, protectors and frames are the easiest to find.
If you and your partner are tall, or one of you spreads out, a king gives each of you 38 inches instead of 30; see the king mattresses page. For a guest room or a teenager, a full is often enough.
What is on the floor in queen
Every line in the store comes in queen. Which ones a Sleep Coach shows you depends on your pressure map, but this is the range:
Tempur-Pedic: TEMPUR material that adapts to your shape and weight, with the motion isolation couples notice first.
Sealy: foam, innerspring and hybrid builds from a brand that has been in bedrooms for over a century.
Stearns & Foster: hand-built with ultra-premium foams and advanced coil systems for a hotel-quality feel.
Beautyrest: individually wrapped pocketed coils for targeted support, in firm, plush and hybrid feels.
SmartLife by King Koil and Snooze Handcrafted by King Koil: responsive comfort layers over supportive coils, the Handcrafted line hand-built from selected materials.
Brooklyn Bedding: the Sedona hybrid, with a GlacioTex™ cooling cover over comfort foams and individually wrapped coils, in your choice of soft, medium or firm.
Copper Collection by Spring Air: copper-infused foams for hot sleepers.
Snooze-O-Pedic: our own memory-foam line with high-density foam layers over 800-series pocketed coils.
Helix and Puffy: pressure relief, alignment and cooling comfort engineered for your sleep style.
Queen and the adjustable base
A queen fits a single adjustable base, so head and foot positioning, zero-gravity, massage and under-bed lighting are all available without going to a split size. Most of the memory-foam and hybrid queens on our floor are compatible with an adjustable base; a Sleep Coach will confirm for the model you choose. A split king is the option when two people want different positions.
