Around Brownsville, November has a pattern. The cousins start a group chat about who's hosting Thanksgiving on November 26. Somebody remembers the guest room still has the mattress from the old house. And the person who's been waking up stiff since summer finally says, out loud, "This is the year." Then Black Friday lands on November 27, and every ad seems to shout at once. If you're planning to buy a mattress during the sales, good timing is on your side. But the deal only matters if the bed actually fits the body sleeping on it. Here's how a local Sleep Coach would plan it.
For most shoppers, yes. Black Friday is usually the year's biggest mattress sale, and mattress reviewers at Tom's Guide rank it first of the five major sale periods, ahead of Cyber Monday, Labor Day, Presidents' Day and Memorial Day. The catch is simple: a discount on the wrong mattress is still the wrong mattress. A couple of details make November worth waiting for if you can. Tom's Guide notes that manufacturer list prices tend to peak in summer and bottom out in November, so a smaller percentage off in November can cost less than a bigger percentage off in July. Sales also start earlier every year. The Black Friday Sale at Snooze Mattress in Brownsville started October 30, and most vendor offers run November 3 through December 1, 2026. There's one exception. If your current bed is costing you sleep right now, waiting six weeks for a sale has a price too. The CDC points to a recommendation that adults 18 to 60 get at least 7 hours a night, and more than a third of American adults regularly don't. A mattress that keeps you up isn't saving you anything.
If you sleep better at a relative's house or in a hotel than in your own bed, take that seriously. The Sleep Foundation says most mattresses last 7 to 10 years, so a bed bought before about 2017 is likely past its best. Sagging, morning stiffness and feeling every move your partner makes are other common signs. The holidays are a natural test. You spend a weekend at your tía's place in Harlingen, or a night on South Padre Island, and you wake up without that familiar ache. Pay attention to that. The Sleep Foundation's numbers also vary by type: about 5.5 to 6.5 years for innerspring, 6 to 7 for foam, and 7.5 to 8.5 for latex. Down here, heat is part of the story too. Our Gulf humidity doesn't fully clear out in November, and a mattress that traps warmth can leave you sleeping hot on a mild night. If you've been kicking off the covers at 2 a.m., mention it to your Sleep Coach. Cooling materials are one of the first things we'll look at. For a quick refresher on how foam, latex, innerspring and hybrid beds feel, read how different mattress materials feel when you sleep, or check five signs your mattress may be affecting your sleep.
Do your homework at the kitchen table first. Know how you sleep, measure the room and the path to it, and decide on a comfortable monthly budget instead of a single sticker price. Then book a fitting, so your time in the store goes to a short list of beds that suit your body. A short prep list that saves a lot of back-and-forth:
Tom's Guide suggests narrowing your choices to three to five mattresses that suit your sleep position. A fitting gets you there faster.
Dream Mapping, our pressure mapping technology, uses thousands of sensors to show exactly where your body needs support. Instead of lying on fifteen beds and hoping, you lie down once, and your Sleep Coach can see which mattresses support your shoulders and hips and which ones don't. That matters most on a crowded sale weekend, when everything looks like a bargain. Comfort is what you feel for five minutes. Support is what determines how you sleep all night. Your Dream Mapping scan gives you a Sleep Score, and that score guides the short list. Couples can each be mapped, which helps when one of you sleeps hot and the other runs cold. You can book a free Dream Mapping session before you come in, and family members who'd rather read in Spanish can find the same information on our Spanish-language site.

Online deals are easy to compare from the couch, but you can't feel support through a screen, and sending back a queen mattress is a real project. In a store you can lie down, get fitted and ask questions. Either way, read the trial terms. Tom's Guide puts the average online trial at about 100 nights. At Snooze Mattress in Brownsville, our 365-Night Sleep Guarantee covers major brands (see store for details). Ask your Sleep Coach which brands qualify and how delivery and setup work for your address. You can browse what's in the showroom on our mattresses page before you visit.
Yes. Snooze Mattress offers special financing: 0% interest up to 60 months, no down payment, with approved credit. See store for details. Financing lets you choose the mattress that fits your body rather than the one that fits this week's budget, which is the whole point of shopping with a plan. Work out the monthly number you're comfortable with before you shop, and bring it up early. HSA/FSA payments are also accepted on eligible purchases; eligibility depends on your plan. The mattress financing page explains the options and how to apply.

November is usually the best month. Black Friday and Cyber Monday bring the deepest discounts of the year, and list prices tend to bottom out in November, according to Tom's Guide. Presidents' Day in February is the next strong window, when brands clear older models.
Usually not by much. Cyber Monday (November 30, 2026) often extends Black Friday pricing, and prices rarely drop lower, though some retailers add extras. If you've found the right mattress during the Black Friday Sale, there's little reason to wait.
Most mattresses last 7 to 10 years, according to the Sleep Foundation. Innerspring models tend to wear sooner and latex later. If you wake up stiff, see sagging or sleep better away from home, it's worth getting fitted.
The scan itself takes about five minutes. Plan a little extra time to try the short list your Sleep Coach builds from your Sleep Score, especially on a busy sale weekend.
Booking ahead is the easiest way to make sure a Sleep Coach is ready when you arrive, especially if you're driving in from Harlingen, San Benito, Los Fresnos, Port Isabel or South Padre Island. You can book online or call (956) 303-3666.
